Over 500 athletes from 78 countries come together for the IFMA Athletes Forum organised by the IFMA Athletes Commission during the 2018 World muaythai championships.
The meeting was to update the athletes on all the developments and elect the three new members of the Athletes Commission. This ensures representation from all corners of the globe so everyone’s issues can be addressed.
IFMA Athletes Chairman, Janice Lyn, gathered a detailed report on the Athletes Commission focusing on important points: health and safety, anti-doping and ethics. The three new members of the Athletes Commission were introduced to the athletes, starting with Nili Block from Israel, one of the most decorated female athletes on the IFMA roster.
Representing Panamerica; Ian Escuza from Peru. And Brandon Kingston from Oceania. The Athletes Commission also decided to include two junior athletes at the Youth World Championship. This event has really grown now to become also a flagship event so elections will take place during the Youth Forum in Bankok in August.
Congratulations to all the new members! The IFMA Athletes Commission will continue to be one of the most important commissions in the IFMA family.
