The International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) was represented at the International World Games Association (IWGA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on 30 April 2025 at the Novotel Madrid Las Ventas in Spain. Director General Charissa Tynan and Vice President Hasan Yildiz joined over 100 delegates from International Member Federations, National Olympic Committees (NOCs), National Sport Organisations (NSOs), and organising committees of upcoming World Games editions.

The AGM commenced with a welcome address from IWGA President José Perurena, followed by a video message from International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Dr. Thomas Bach, marking his final address in this role. The agenda included the adoption of the 2024 AGM minutes, presentation of the 2024 Annual Report by IWGA CEO Joachim Gossow, strategic discussions, committee updates, and the financial report delivered by IWGA Treasurer Lukas Hinder.

Delegates received comprehensive briefings from the Chengdu 2025 Organising Committee, covering key aspects such as competition schedules, accreditation, accommodation, visa procedures, and insurance. Updates on The World Games 2029 in Karlsruhe, Germany, were also presented, highlighting the event’s return to Europe.

A notable segment of the AGM was the recognition of the 2024 Athlete of the Year awardees: winner Veddriqu Leonardo (Indonesia), runner-up Kristin Lätt (Estonia), and second runner-up Xin Tong (China). Trophies were accepted on behalf of the athletes by their respective International Federation Presidents.

The IWGA Deputy CEO Guillaume Felli shared insights from the second edition of The World Games Series held in Chengdu from 28–30 March 2025, which featured 123 athletes from 33 countries competing in three sports. The event served as a valuable test for venues, schedules, visa processes, and broadcasting ahead of The World Games 2025.

President Perurena expressed gratitude to all attendees for their dedication to The World Games movement and highlighted the strong representation of NOCs and NSOs from various countries, underscoring the IWGA’s strengthened global ties.

The AGM concluded with a celebration of President Perurena’s 80th birthday, acknowledging his decades of leadership and contributions to the IWGA.

IFMA remains committed to contributing to the success of The World Games and the broader objectives of the IWGA.
