Paris, France – Club France was the heart and soul of Paris 2024 with over 100,000 visitors every day and it was an honor for IFMA to be invited to showcase Muaythai as a cultural artform and exciting ring sport and a sport for all. Athletes from 24 countries were selected and for the first time in the world, the IFMA demonstration team with the winners from the IFMA Mai Muay and Wai Kru competitions and many VIPs from the IOC, NOCs, sports ministries and royalties came to support and also had the chance to analyze muaythai as a full recognized sport and art within the Olympic Family.

The heart of Club France at the Paris 2024 Olympics was electrified by the vibrant and dynamic presence of Muaythai, as athletes from 24 countries across all five continents gathered to participate in a special Muaythai exhibition event. Over the course of two days, the event showcased not only the competitive spirit of the sport but also its rich cultural heritage, bringing an unforgettable experience to all in attendance.

The event kicked off with a celebration of Muaythai’s cultural elements, featuring traditional Mai Muay and Wai Kru performances. These rituals, deeply rooted in the history of Muaythai, provided spectators with a unique glimpse into the sport’s cultural significance. Following the cultural showcase, athletes from around the world took to the stage, demonstrating their skills and dedication in a series of exhibition matches that captivated the audience.

Nadir Allouache, President of the French Federation, expressed immense pride in Muaythai’s inclusion in Club France, noting the significant attention the event garnered within the Olympic sporting movement. “Having Muaythai as a part of Club France has been a tremendous honour. The overwhelming support and interest from the Olympic community highlight the growing recognition of Muaythai on the world stage.”

For the athletes, the event was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform on such a prestigious platform. Competing at Club France allowed them to showcase their skills to an international audience, including numerous VVIPs from the Olympic movement, royalty, National Olympic Committees, and sport ministries. The event provided these distinguished guests with an in-depth understanding of both the cultural and competitive aspects of Muaythai, fostering a deeper appreciation for the sport.

As the event drew to a close, the resounding success of Muaythai at Club France was clear. The sport’s ability to bring together athletes from around the world, while also highlighting its rich cultural traditions, has solidified its place within the Olympic community.

IFMA President, Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan, could not hold back his pride welcoming the Ambassadors from 24 countries, the IFMA Executive Board and reminisced upon the development of IFMA for the last 30 years which started in 1993 and started with the slogan “One World, One Muaythai” which now more than ever shines through.

A special celebration will be held but for now IFMA has showcased Muaythai at its best and at the same time, deservingly being recognized by the IOC.
