The IFMA Turkish Youth Championships witnessed an impressive turnout, with 503 youth athletes aged 10 to 12 competing over five days in two muaythai rings. This National Championship was a key event to select the final participants from the youngest age category for the upcoming IFMA Youth World Championships in Bangkok.
The event was not only about competition but also focused on preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of muaythai. Youth from all regions of Turkey participated in both the competition sport and traditional aspects like Wai Khru and Mae Muay.

Dr. Erdogan Aydin, IFMA Executive Board member and Chair of the IFMA Medical Commission, emphasized the importance of youth development, stressing the need to prioritize safety in all aspects and adopt appropriate rules for young athletes. European President Hasan Yildiz highlighted Turkey’s pride in hosting the Youth World Championships in 2023, which significantly contributed to the promotion of muaythai across the country. He announced that Turkey will be sending over 70 youths to compete in Bangkok.

Congratulations to all the young warriors who made their families, gyms, and above all, themselves proud!
