Representatives of 10 countries arrived in Kazan to showcase the art and sport of muaythai at the debut of the CIS Games. The Games have proven to be a successful multi-sport platform where muaythai athletes are able to blend in Olympic spirit among the sports included in the Olympic Games program. From the opening ceremony to the awarding medals this has been a top-level competition.
It has been 4 years since the international muaythai athletes visited the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan for the World Cup. This time the World Games qualification event brought representatives of CIS member countries making an Eastern European regional competition which allow athletes to rack up their remaining points on their road to Birmingham.
The muaythai competition was set for athletes under 23 years which gave a great opportunity for the national federations to see the young generation of athletes in action at the highest level.
Russia has truly shown an amazing result winning every final bout where they had a representative.
The second team place went to Belarus with Kazakhstan making the top 3 teams of the Games.
Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan won 4th and 5th team places in the Games. Team Uzbekistan prided itself with a full set of medals and sweeping the podium with gold, silver, and bronze. Team Azerbaijan will proudly journey home with 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
