The 12th Antalya Open Cup and Mediterranean Championships began with an air of excitement as 550 athletes from 30 delegations gathered in Antalya, Turkey, for this prestigious IFMA event. The vibrant city welcomed participants from across the globe, highlighting the unifying spirit of Muaythai and its rich cultural heritage.

The first official engagement was the Team Managers’ Meeting, held in a conference hall adorned with flags representing the participating nations. Delegates from 30 countries assembled to discuss the logistics, competition rules, and event schedule. The panel, led by senior EMF, Turkish Muaythai Federation President Hasan Yildiz and Technical Delegate Dr. Erdogan Aydin, provided clear guidance and ensured all teams were well-prepared for the days ahead.

The meeting emphasised the importance of fair play, athlete safety, and upholding the values of Muaythai. Representatives also introduced updates to the competition format and outlined expectations for referees and judges. With questions answered and formalities completed, the teams departed, ready for the grand opening that awaited.

The next morning the Antalya Indoor Sports Arena came alive with the colours and sounds of the Opening Ceremony. Delegates from 30 nations paraded proudly, each carrying their flags as the audience erupted in applause. Traditional Turkish music and performances added a local flair, creating a blend of culture and sport that resonated with everyone present.

Dignitaries, including prominent local government representatives, delivered inspiring speeches, underscoring Muaythai’s role in fostering international friendship and respect.
