Muaythai Day 2024 was celebrated in Thailand on February 6th with AMTAT as the host at Thailand National Sport University, Bangkok campus right after the world celebration of Muaythai Day kicked off by IFMA.  

The event kicked off with a special celebration involving the 152 member countries with 36 countries putting in special demonstrations and messages. The Secretary General of the European Muaythai Federation, Mr. Davide Carlot was there to represent the EMF and IFMA Executive Board in person.

Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan, IFMA President and President of AMTAT, opened the event amongst Thailand’s highest Grand Masters, muaythai teachers from various provinces and their students who won medals at international IFMA and IOC recognized events such as multiple IFMA Combat and Wai Kru gold medalist, Thanawan Thongduang.

A special Wai Kru ceremony was performed amongst attendees to honor and respect the late “Phra Chao Suea” the “Tiger King” on this Muaythai Day.

Associate Professor, Dr. Pathansana Jubjit and Vice President of Thailand National Sports University, Bangkok Campus was in attendance for the ceremony and to witness the Year 1 students of the university who performed their Wai Kru as part of their final Muaythai exam on this auspicious day.
