Phoenix was chosen to be the host city for the 2015 Final of the United States Muaythai Open Championship to unearth athletes that will represent America at the upcoming Royal World Cup in Bangkok, Thailand.
The United States Muaythai Federation (USMF) contracted Siam Fight Productions for the first qualifying U.S. Muaythai Open tournament for purposes to form the 2015 National Team.
This tournament was held April 25-26th in Phoenix, Arizona at the Crowne Plaza North Hotel Ballroom. Many athletes from across the United States participated in this event with medals and belts awarded to the tournament bracket winners. USMF, as the sole United States IFMA representative, has the responsibility to promote Muaythai to the highest recognition in the U.S. for the best Amateur athletes including youth sportsmanship and development. These athletes have the opportunity to be a part of the 2015 U.S. National team to compete at the prestigious IFMA World Championship in Bangkok, Thailand.
President of USMF and IFMA Executive Board member, Cheryl Garcia is excited to bring a strong U.S. team to compete in August. “We look forward to competing at the World Championships and to unite with our fellow Muaythai federations in Bangkok, Thailand. It is an honor for the U.S. to compete at the Royal World Cup games, the first qualifier for the 2017 World Games, with aspirations to be present at the World Combat competition as part of the multi-sport games towards Olympic recognition”.
