Muaythai marked another historic milestone on the global sports stage with the 1st CISM Military Muaythai Challenge—a powerful symbol of unity through sport and a triumph for international sports diplomacy.

Held under the auspices of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), the Royal Thai Armed Forces, the Military Sports Promotion Association of Thailand, and with IFMA overseeing technical operations, the event delivered four dynamic days of elite-level competition, cultural showcases, and immersive Muaythai workshops—all celebrating the indomitable spirit of Muaythai.

A Milestone Moment for Military Sport The Kingdom of Thailand hosted a truly outstanding event, one where the CISM motto, “Friendship Through Sport,” came vibrantly to life.

Dr. Sutin Klangsang, President of the Military Sports Promotion Association of Thailand, lauded the event’s success:
“This was more than a competition. It was a celebration of identity, discipline, and respect. We are grateful to CISM for placing their trust in Thailand, and we look forward to even deeper cooperation moving forward.”
Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan, IFMA President, reflected on the athletes’ performances:
“Muaythai is more than a martial art—it’s a living legacy. From ancient battlefields to the modern arena, we saw the warrior spirit shine in every athlete. Whether or not they reached the podium, they all deserve our congratulations.”

Colonel Nilton Gomes Rolim Filho, President of CISM, expressed deep gratitude to the athletes, coaches, and officials for their excellence, and to Thailand for setting a new benchmark in military sporting events. He also commended IFMA, the IOC-recognized governing body for Muaythai, for upholding fair play across all divisions.

The closing ceremony was chaired by His Serene Highness Prince Nawaphansa Yugala, with dignitaries including the President of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand in attendance.

His Serene Highness concluded with a powerful message:
“Tonight, we celebrate more than a tournament—we celebrate Muaythai as a bridge between cultures, a force for unity, and a legacy to inspire future generations of athletes and global cooperation through military sport.”
