It was an amazing SportAccord Convention in Thailand – the motherland of Muaythai, and the event was full of Thai traditions of which Muaythai is an inseparable part.

All the leaders from the world of sport – including the IOC President Mr. Thomas Bach, GAISF and SportAccord President Mr. Patrick Baumann, President of Asian Olympic Council Ahmed Al-Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, President of WADA Craig Reedie, Minister of Sport and Tourism in Thailand Weerasak Kowsurat, Minister of Sport and Tourism in Thailand Weerasak Kowsurat, President ASOIF Francesco Ricci Bitti, President of Peace and Sport Joel Bouzou and guests from UN Women, UNESCO, Right To Play  – were present at the opening ceremony where Muaythai was featured with its discipline the ancient art of Muay Boran.

The regular workout session “Good Morning Bangkok” made a memorable day for so many participants at the Convention; combining three activities: training Muaythai with Thai masters, getting blessed by Thai monks and meeting displaced youth who were brough to Bangkok to be part of this celebration of sport.

The famous show Muaythai Live did a demonstration of Muaythai history at the opening of the Sport Festival. Again all the distinguished guests and leaders of sport were in attendance to celebrate the youth who were the main actors on the stage.

Muaythai bouts at the demo zone attracted the attention of the crowd and representatives of different sports with FISU President Oleg Matytsin honoured the athletes with awards and trophies.

It was a magical week in Bangkok and for Muaythai an unforgettable time where the entire world of sport could dive into the origins of this beautiful sport.
