December 5th has and always will mark an important day in the Thai Calendar as it is the birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who sadly passed away on October 13th this year. The Royal Thai Govt has now permanently declared December 5 a national holiday. The World Muaythai Council which is under royal patronage has been organizing for the last twenty years the King’s Cup; and this December 5th will see a special event in memory of King Rama IX.
There will be the memorial trophy in Super 4 format, along with junior bouts, female bouts and also a world title fight. Judges and referees from every leading Thai stadium, Lumpinee, Ratchadamnoen, Omnoi and Channel 7 will all be there in solidarity and respect.
The event will be held at the famous Lumpinee park in front of Rama 6 Stature.
