In preparation for the upcoming European Muaythai Championships slated for November 2024, the President of the European Muaythai Federation (EMF), Hasan Yildiz, along with Technical Delegate Dr. Erdogan, embarked on a significant site visit to Pristina, Kosovo. The visit aimed to foster collaboration with the Kosovo Muaythai Federation (FMAK) and key stakeholders to ensure the success of the championship and promote the development of Muaythai in Kosovo and across Europe.
The delegation commenced their visit by meeting with Mr. Shpetim Ahmetaj, the President of FMAK, to discuss plans and strategies for hosting the European Muaythai Championship. Following this, they had fruitful discussions with Mr. Ismet Krasniqi, President of the Kosovo National Olympic Committee (KOK), and Mr. Besim Aliti, the General Secretary of KOK, who expressed their support and enthusiasm for Kosovo’s role in hosting such a prestigious event.
Gratitude and assurance of support were echoed by Kosovo’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sports, Ms. Daulina Osmani, who emphasised Pristina’s designation as the European Sports City for 2024 and pledged to provide all necessary resources for the championship.
Minister Fikrim Damka, representing the Kosovo Regional Development Ministry, reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the success of the European Muaythai Championship, affirming their readiness to extend support for the event.
During their visit, the delegation also took the opportunity to observe an International IFMA Referee course, organized by FMAK President Shpetim Ahmetaj and delivered by IFMA International Technical Official Jens Wilke. The initiative aimed to enhance the skills of referees and officials, ensuring the smooth conduct of the championship.
The visit culminated in a meeting with the Deputy Mayor of Pristina, Mr. Alban Zogaj, who pledged full support from the municipality for the successful organisation of the European Muaythai Championship.
President Hasan Yildiz expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders for their warm reception and unwavering commitment to the event. He emphasised the importance of collaboration and solidarity in promoting Muaythai across Europe. With such enthusiastic support and dedication from all parties involved, the European Muaythai Championship in Pristina promises to be a landmark event, showcasing the spirit of unity and excellence in the sport.
