Since its inception in 1999, IFMA’s flagship initiative, Sport Is Your Gang, has evolved into a powerful global movement, making a lasting impact in over 80 countries. This initiative, grounded in the philosophy of giving back, reflects the core belief of IFMA: the only time we look down on someone is when we help them back on their feet. It continues to serve as a beacon of hope, particularly in Thailand, the birthplace of Muaythai.

For more than two decades, IFMA has built strong partnerships with correctional facilities across Thailand, providing essential training equipment, expert coaching, and unwavering support. A standout example of this commitment is the Prison Fights program, which showcases the transformative power of Muaythai to inspire personal change and offer second chances to those who need it most.

In 2024, this invaluable partnership was renewed with the active involvement of Khun Chonmanad Vahey from Prison Fights and the Ministry of Justice. The renewal was celebrated with a poignant opening ceremony at The Correctional Institution for Young Men in Pathum Thani, where the IFMA and WMC Executive Board had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the profound impact of the program on the lives of inmates.
As we look ahead to 2025, IFMA remains unwavering in its commitment to support over 20 correctional facilities across Thailand. The first two facilities to benefit from this year’s sponsorship—Central Prison in Rayong and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Correctional Institution for Young Offenders in Ayutthaya—mark just the beginning of another year of meaningful change and positive contributions. The equipment was already provided to three facilities.

IFMA President Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan emphasized the transformative power of this initiative, highlighting its role in providing opportunities for re-socialization through proper training and coaching. “Everyone deserves a second chance,” he said, reaffirming IFMA’s continued dedication to fostering hope and transformation through the art of Muaythai.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the Ministry of Justice, Prison Fights, and all IFMA stakeholders for their tireless dedication to this impactful program, making it a true force for positive change.
