FAMA General Secretary and again elected President of the Singapore Muaythai association, Mervyn Tan will continue with the vision to grow MUAYTHAI in Singapore to the highest possible level. This must be done with the proper youth development work.
Singapore muaythai is fully recognized by the National Olympic Council of Singapore and the Singapore Sports Council. President Tan stated that Singapore may be a small country in size, but per capita it is one of the biggest muaythai countries. Singapore also will be sending a full team to compete in the upcoming Asian Beach Games.
Nearly 30 gyms sent their high level muaythai instructors to the full-day workshop which was conducted by special invitation by WMC vice president and IFMA General Secretary, Stephan Fox, along with a well selected team of Thai coaches and Ajarn Nugget from Australia. The WMC vice president and IFMA General Secretary gave a long presentation on all the developmental aspects of Muaythai, youth and female development, social responsibility, sport integrity, and to the delight of the 130 instructors present, he also was a part of the practical session.
President Tan stated that Singapore will continue to be a valuable member of IFMA and FAMA and that over the next year, with the help of the Singapore sports council and the NOC, Singapore will continue to grow muaythai as much as a martial art and combat sport.
