The IFMA Executive Board met in Bangkok under the President of Dr Sakchye Tapsuwan. He welcomed all EB members from the five continents.
The meeting was the second one after IOC recognition, and IFMA Sport Direction Charissa Tynan made a detailed presentation on the strategic plan. This includes IFMA’s continued focus on youth development, anti-doping programmes.
IFMA VP Sue Latta presented to the board a detailed report on IFMA’s female development saying the numbers are rising. This now sets the mark for other sports with two of the out the five continental presidents being female, and participation of nearly 40% overall.
A report was given on the cooperation between IFMA, IOC and Interpol on match-fixing initiatives and the IFMA task-force as led by General Manageulod, President of The Philippines muaythai federation.
IFMA General Secretary Stephan F spoke about IFMA’s journey towards excellence, and in order to be an example IFMA must continue to lead by example.
Many important decisions were made, shaping the future of the sport but the overall positive outcome was that the future is safe – this strengthened by experiencing and witnessing the Youth tournament.
