On October 21, 2024, the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) proudly participated in the 2024 ARISF General Assembly held at the iconic Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland. IFMA was represented by Executive Board Member Nadir Allouache and Director General Charissa Tynan. The event, hosted by the Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF), brought together leaders of international sports federations, marking a significant milestone for ARISF as it celebrates its 40th anniversary.

The General Assembly opened with inspiring messages from distinguished figures in the Olympic Movement, including Nicole Hoevertsz, IOC Vice President; Ivo Ferriani, President of the World Olympic Federation; Kit McConnell, IOC Sports Director; Dr. Ugur Erdener, SportAccord President; Witold Bańka, WADA President; and Stephan Fox, President of the Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport (AIMS). Their words underscored the importance of unity, governance, and the continued development of sports federations within the Olympic ecosystem.

Celebrating ARISF’s 40th Anniversary

ARISF President Raffaele Chiulli presented his annual report, reflecting on a remarkable year of growth and collaboration. As ARISF celebrates its 40th year, Chiulli highlighted the organization’s partnerships with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Testing Agency (ITA), emphasizing their shared mission to support smaller federations and promote clean sport. He also noted ARISF’s commitment to sustainability initiatives and the development of projects aimed at increasing the visibility of member federations within the global sports community.

President Chiulli proudly reported ARISF’s strong financial position, allowing the organization to expand its services to members, ensuring continued support and growth opportunities. He extended heartfelt thanks to Eva Orellana and Marco Ienna for their exceptional work in managing ARISF’s daily operations.

Strategic Vision for the Future

Ricardo Fraccari, ARISF Secretary General, then introduced Board Member John Liljelund to present ARISF’s strategic plan. Liljelund outlined a comprehensive roadmap focused on enhancing the foundational structures of ARISF’s member federations. Key areas of development include maximizing the value of IOC recognition, strengthening the visibility of member federations, and expanding access to multisport events. The strategic plan also emphasizes governance and integrity, highlighting ARISF’s collaboration with the International Partnership Against Corruption in Sport (IPACS) and the continued development of clean sport initiatives.

The 2024 ARISF General Assembly reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting its members and positioning them for success within the international sports community. As part of the ARISF family, IFMA continues to strive for excellence, fostering collaboration and growth within the world of Muaythai.
