A final meeting took place at the Sports Authority of Thailand facility with the organizing committee of the 2015 Muaythai University World Cup chaired by General Chetta Thanajaro, President of World Muaythai Council, and Dr Sakchye Tapsuwan, President of IFMA. Also in attendance were the representatives from the Department of Physical Education of Thailand, representatives of the Amateur MuayThai Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, the Thailand University Sport Board, and IFMA the world governing body for amateur Muaythai.
Thailand is very excited to be the host of the first FISU patronized Muaythai event, which will include cultural, educational and sporting exchange. The opening ceremony will be a display of the Muaythai values: respect, honour, tradition, excellence and fairplay. There will also be various scheduled activities during the event like the academic forum on Youth, Education and Sport, with speakers from SportAccord, UNiTE, FISU, the Royal Thai Government, IFMA, and many others. Dr Sakchye thanked all the parties involved and is looking forward to an eventful week and another important step forward in Muaythai’s move towards IOC recognition.
