Saint-Tropez is with no doubt one of the top vacation places in the world; it also became the centre of the Muaythai world last week. The FightNight was held under the patronage of Mlle Brigitte Bardot, promoted by Olivier Muller, president of the Swiss MuayThai Network, in one of the most beautiful locations in the world.
The mayor of Saint-Tropez, Mr Jean-Pierre Tuveri, opened the event with a welcoming speech; welcoming HE M. Apichart Chinwanno the Thai ambassador to France, Baroness Cécile de Massy, Joël Bouzou the President of Peace and Sport, Stephan Fox WMC Vice President, and Charissa Tynan the Sport Director of IFMA.
Thailand sent an elite team with Samsamut Kietchongkao, Ekkarit, the WMC World Champ, and Muaythai Angels Champ Chommanee, all winning their respective bouts with world-class performances. The female fight between Chommanee and Russia’s Irina Mazepa really delighted the audience, with Chommanee showing why she is the current Muaythai Angels champ. Irina went toe-to-toe with Chommanee for the duration of fight but was unable defeat the champ.
Ring legend, Peter Aerts, fought French champion Freddy Kemayo and sadly, a shin injury for Aerts left the referee no choice but to stop the fight in favour of Kemayo. Jerome Le Banner the French superstar also won his bout against Daniel Sam of England.
Congratulations must go to everyone involved in this fantastic event, and the world is looking forward to the next FightNight in Saint-Tropez.
