This year Egypt has succeeded in organizing the 4th Muaythai Arab Championship, which was held in Sharm el-Sheikh, a peaceful city on the Egyptian Red Sea coast, on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula. The championship was attended by 10 Arab countries: Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Tunisia, Morocco, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and the Sudan.
Many prominent personalities attended the 4th Arab Championship opening ceremony, including Maj. Gen. Hossam Eldin Sibai, head of the city of Sharm el-Sheikh. They were entertained by spectacular folk group dances, and a Muay Boran exhibition thanks to the Iraqi team participating in the tournament.
The championships have been held three times already over the past decade, twice in Lebanon and once in Morocco. Now the Egyptian Muaythai Federation is currently working hard to help spread Muaythai across all of the African countries. They are currently preparing to participate in the 2012 IFMA World Championship in St. Petersburg, Russia.
