The Thai SELECT Festival 2024, held at Dubai’s Emirates Golf Club on November 8-9, offered a vibrant celebration of Thailand’s cultural heritage through the captivating “5Fs”: Food, Festival, Film, Fight, and Fashion. Among these, Muay Thai—the iconic Thai martial art—took center stage with electrifying live demonstrations. Spectators were enthralled as talented fighters displayed the intricate techniques and powerful moves characteristic of Muay Thai, reflecting the sport’s spirit and discipline.
Emphasizing the “Fight” theme, the festival not only showcased Muay Thai’s unique techniques but also honored its cultural significance and global reputation as a symbol of Thai resilience. The demonstrations provided attendees with a deeper appreciation of Muay Thai’s evolution, with fighters showcasing their skills with precision and respect for the tradition. This immersive experience blended entertainment with education, highlighting Thailand’s martial arts heritage under the presence of esteemed Thai dignitaries.
During the event, Mr. Sorayut Chasombat, Ambassador of Thailand to the UAE, praised the UAE Muaythai Federation, led by H.E. Abdullah Al Neyadi, for its outstanding work in developing and promoting the sport. He acknowledged the federation’s collaboration with the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) and shared his enthusiasm for the IFMA Youth World Championships, scheduled for 2025 in Abu Dhabi. H.E. Abdullah Al Neyadi, President of the Asian Muaythai Federation, also expressed his gratitude to the Royal Thai Embassy and Consulate for their support and applauded the unified efforts in elevating Muay Thai as both a sport and an art form. He reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to enhancing all aspects of Muay Thai.
The festival saw over 300 youth participants competing in Muay Thai events, Wai Khru Mae Muay, and special Muay Thai workshops, underscoring the cultural importance of Muay Thai and fostering international connections. A heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to this success—the UAE Muaythai Federation, the Thai Embassy and Consulate, and the talented UAE youth who showcased their remarkable skills.
