The Hong Kong Muaythai Association (HKMTA), one of the most active associations in Asia, recently organized the National Hong Kong Championships, sanctioned under HKMTA, IFMA and FAMA. The final event was held at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium, which was packed to bursting point with close to 4,000 spectators, including the many ringside celebrities who always come to support the HKMTA.
The event, which featured 3 hours of non-stop solid entertainment, determined who will represent Hong Kong at the next Asian Championship in Iran and at the upcoming Indoor Asian Games in Macau.
HKMTA is fully recognized by the Hong Kong Olympic Council, the WMC and IFMA, the latter of which is now an official GAISF member.
Congratulations to the Hong Kong Muaythai Association – this show proves that with the right promotion, amateur Muaythai can be popular and enjoy strong attendance – the numbers speak for themselves.
