The city of Herning on the mainland of Denmark hosted the Danish Championship on Saturday the 1st of February. This is only the second time the Danish Championship was hosted outside the capital island. Spreading events out to cities besides the capital is all a part of the initiative to show that “muaythai is for every body”. Last year the island Funen hosted their first muaythai event “Thai Fights 5000”, which was such a great success that the series continued later on in the same year and will be on again in late 2014.
The best fight of the event was in the -67kg division between Thomas Bossen and Mikkel Lund, both fighters showed strong and clean muaythai skills, it was a very close fight, but Thomas Bossen took the win.
In the youth division, spotlight fell on a promising future for Danish muaythai, when junior fighter Hussein Najie won the title of the best fighter of the event. The Danish fighters all gave outstanding performances signalling their readiness for the upcoming World Championships in Malaysia!
