The IFMA Cultural Commission led by Ajahn Thavorn, Ajahn Chao, Ajahn Sawaeng, Ajahn Suphan and Ajahn Wut, Ajahn Kao Phong, Kru Dam and many others came together for a 10-day OSM IFMA World Workshop to finalize the competition rules and regulations for the Wai Kru and Mae Mai Muaythai international competition.
The international contingent was led by Ryan Rudkin and Jens Wilke. The Wai Kru and Mae Mai Muaythai has become an official part of IFMA sanctioned events including SEA Games, Indoor Asian Games, World Games, World Combat Games, FISU and are part of IFMA approved disciplines as an IOC recognized organization.
The Wai Kru and Mae Mai Muaythai competitions are contests of individual (Wai Kru) or dual (Mae Mai) formats. The competitors who will reach the podium receive a full medal ceremony including national anthem and the medals are recorded as part of the official medal tally of the participating countries.
