After a full lockdown for more than two months for many IFMA member federations, the tide has finally begun to turn as some governments have started to lift restrictions surrounding physical group activities.

After months at home with hundreds of hours of online training and sharing fitness tips for bedroom workouts some IFMA athletes can again put on their gloves and feel the weight of the heavy bags and feel the excitement of being back in the gym.

In the Netherlands the government has enabled gyms to reopen on the premise that the classes are held outside. Children up to the age of 13 are allowed physical contact while physical distancing rules still apply to ages of 13 plus. From July onwards it is hoped that the Netherlands will return to normal circumstances pre- outbreak

In Slovenia the Muaythai National Team has being granted permission to train in order to keep sharp for upcoming IFMA championships which could take place later in the year.

The Czech Republic athletes received good news this week as they can return to their training following closure and restrictions since March this year.

After so many hard months for many who consider muaythai to be their life it is great that muaythai practitioners are beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel and IFMA is looking forward to see our athletes doing what they do best with no restrictions.
