The 3rd Asian Youth Games in Manama, Bahrain welcomed a historic moment for Muaythai as the sport made its official debut on the continental multi-sport stage. With 28 nations participating in both combat and cultural divisions, the IFMA Team Manager Meeting laid the foundation for a fair, exciting, and culturally rich competition.

The meeting was opened by IFMA Director General Charissa Tynan, alongside FAMA Secretary General Mervyn Tan, who conveyed his heartfelt support to all teams:

“This is more than a competition—it is a celebration of youth, culture, and unity. I wish all teams success, and may you carry the values of Muaythai with pride and honor throughout these Games.”

Senior ITO Gunter Plank and Medical Commission Chair Erdogan Aydin led a comprehensive briefing on the rules, regulations, and scoring systems, ensuring clarity and consistency across all bouts. Their guidance reinforced IFMA’s commitment to athlete safety, fair play, and technical excellence.

Dato Shannaz Azmi, Technical Director for the 2025 Asian Youth Games, conducted the official draw for the combat divisions, setting the stage for thrilling matchups among Asia’s rising Muaythai stars.

For the cultural divisions, Ajahn Sawaeng provided a detailed overview of the rules and judging criteria for Wai Kru and Mai Muay, emphasizing the importance of tradition, rhythm, and storytelling. Ajahn Ryan followed with the draw for the cultural performances, highlighting the diversity and artistry that will be showcased throughout the Games.

With 28 countries represented, the Muaythai competition at the Asian Youth Games promises to be a vibrant blend of athleticism and heritage. IFMA celebrates this milestone and applauds all teams for their dedication to excellence, inclusion, and the spirit of sport.
