Exhibition World Bahrain, October 2025 — The Official Opening Ceremony of the 3rd Asian Youth Games – Bahrain 2025 lit up the night with a breathtaking celebration of pride, culture, and unity. With 45 nations and territories represented, the heart of Asia pulsed with youthful energy, as athletes came together to celebrate friendship, passion, and the transformative power of sport.

A Parade of Nations, A Symphony of Hope
Flags soared and cheers echoed as young athletes marched in a spectacular parade of nations. Each step was a tribute to resilience and camaraderie, a living mosaic of Asia’s diversity and shared dreams. From mountain villages to coastal cities, these youth carried not just their national colors, but the aspirations of their communities.
The Flame of Unity Ignites a New Chapter

The ceremonial flame was lit, casting a warm glow over the arena and symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter in youth sport. His Highness Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa—First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), and Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee of the Asian Youth Games—delivered a powerful speech, expressing pride in Bahrain’s hosting and reaffirming the Games’ role in empowering Asia’s youth. He was joined by Mr. Timothy Fok Tsun Ting, Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), who spoke passionately about the importance of unity, inclusion, and the enduring legacy of youth sport across the continent. Their words echoed the values of the Games: excellence, friendship, and hope.

His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa then officially declared the Games open, marking the start of a journey filled with inspiration and achievement.

Dana’s Dream: Carrying Legacy, Living Hope

Among the crowd stood Dana, a young Bahraini girl whose dream was more than a moment—it was a mission. Inspired by the legacy of her forefathers and the values of her grandfather, Dana came to the Games not just to witness history, but to walk alongside it. Her dream is to carry forward the spirit of her heritage while chasing her own hopes, hand in hand with the athletes of the Asian Youth Games. As she stood among representatives from 45 nations, Dana became a living bridge between tradition and ambition—a reminder that the future is built by those who dare to dream and honor where they come from.

Shehab the Oryx: Bridging Heritage and Ambition

Mascot Shehab, a dynamic and youthful Arabian Oryx, bounded into the ceremony with a message that resonated across generations: “Bridge your roots to your dreams.” Embodying unity, strength, resilience, and ambition, Shehab represents the spirit of Bahrain and its youth. His name, drawn from a traditional Middle Eastern name cherished in Bahrain, connects past and future—desert heritage and sporting ambition. More than a mascot, Shehab is a mentor in motion, inspiring every athlete to pursue excellence in sport and life.
A Night to Remember, A Future to Build

As the ceremony drew to a close, the energy lingered—a promise that Bahrain 2025 would be more than a competition. It would be a celebration of identity, inclusion, and the dreams of every Dana across Asia. From the roar of the crowd to the quiet determination in each athlete’s eyes, the Games began not just with a flame, but with a spark in every heart.

Let the journey begin.
