Vietnam continues to set new benchmarks in the world of Muaythai. Over 5,000 athletes participated in the pre-competition rounds of the 2025 Vietnamese National Championships, held under the auspices of the National Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sports. From this historic turnout, 400 athletes have now qualified for the final rounds, where national champions will be crowned in both combat divisions and the cultural disciplines of Wai Kru and Mai Muay.

Fresh off their victory at the 2025 Asian Championships, where Vietnam claimed first place, the Vietnamese Muaythai Association is now setting its sights on expanding its dominance at the upcoming SEA Games and the OCA Asian Youth Games—to showcase why Vietnam is emerging as a regional powerhouse in both performance and development.

Ms. Tu Le Na, FAMA Executive Board Member, emphasized the strategic collaboration behind Vietnam’s success:
“The strength of Vietnamese Muaythai lies in the unified efforts of the national federation, the National Olympic Committee, and the Ministry of Sports. Together, we’ve built a clear pathway from grassroots to elite, allowing athletes to compete in IFMA world events, Olympic-recognized platforms like the World Games and Asian Games, and at the professional level—all within one integrated pyramid.”

Vietnam’s 10-year development agenda for Muaythai has already reached key milestones, and the record-breaking participation in this year’s championships is further proof of the sport’s deep roots and rising momentum across the country.
