The world is buzzing with anticipation for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024, where athletes from every corner of the globe will unite, living harmoniously in the Olympic Village. The Olympic Games are a beacon of peace and hope, and while Muaythai isn’t part of the Olympic summer program, the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) is seizing this moment to celebrate Olympism in all its splendor—a fusion of sport, culture, and education.
Although Muaythai isn’t an Olympic sport, IFMA, as an IOC-recognized sport and federation, is inviting the Muaythai community to Paris 2024 to witness the pinnacle of martial arts. The Games offer an unparalleled stage to see the world’s elite martial artists in action—Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, Boxing, Fencing, and Wrestling. Muaythai is honored alongside other 9 combat sports to shine at the World Combat Games but for any athlete and especially for these 5 combat sports the Olympic Games are the pinnacle of all. For any martial arts enthusiast, experiencing these Olympic sports firsthand and supporting their compatriots is a once-in-a-lifetime thrill.
Our journey began with the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, where the IFMA family left an indelible mark, promoting the Olympic Movement and creating a legacy in the host city through an amazing social initiative involving both local and visiting youths. The pandemic may have paused our activities, but now we’re back in full force for Paris 2024, with ten days of Muaythai events in collaboration with the French National Federation, FFKMDA, Club France, and the Olympic House. Nak Muay from across the globe will immerse themselves in the grandeur of the Olympic Games while partaking in vibrant Muaythai activities.
From August 2nd to the 10th, Muaythai and IFMA will establish their own Baan Muay (House of Muaythai) at the iconic Teddy Riner Arena in the heart of Paris. Teddy Riner, the legendary French Judoka with 11 world championship golds and three Olympic golds, is poised to make history for Team France at Paris 2024. The Teddy Riner Arena, an official preparation sports center for the Games, will now host Muaythai’s meet-and-greet center. Muaythai athletes worldwide are invited to the Muaythai exhibition, where they can train with top Muaythai masters and athletes. Thai superstar Buakaw and French sensation Jimmy Vienot will lead special classes, and the schedule includes exclusive receptions, signing ceremonies, and nine days of dynamic Muaythai activities. Post-workout, everyone can explore the exhilarating sports at the Olympic Games.
