The Islamic Solidarity Games 2025 in Riyadh are officially underway, and the energy is electric as Muaythai makes its historic debut on this prestigious multi-sport stage. IFMA proudly joins the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA) in celebrating this milestone, with 57 National Olympic Committees participating—an inspiring testament to the growth and strength of Muaythai across the region.

The Team Manager Meeting, a cornerstone of preparation and unity, was hosted by Technical Delegate Dato Shannaz Azmi, alongside Tony Tarraf, Senior Project Manager of ISSA, and Andre Matos, Sport Director of ISG Riyadh 2025. Together, they welcomed national delegations, reaffirming the values of fair play, respect, and excellence that define both Muaythai and the Islamic Solidarity Games.

With the success of the Asian Youth Games still fresh, many countries have arrived in Riyadh with sharpened focus and high hopes—aiming for a final medal push that could elevate their national Olympic committees and secure greater support for Muaythai development back home. The stakes are high, and the spirit is fierce.

International Technical Officials Omar Almarzooqi and Erdinc Patlar led a comprehensive briefing on in-ring rules and regulations, ensuring clarity and consistency across all bouts. Key topics included:

  • Clarification of fouls: Emphasis on illegal techniques such as strikes to the back of the head and attacks after the referee’s break command.
  • Scoring criteria: Reinforcement of the importance of effective aggression, ring control, demonstrating active engagement and clean technique.

The meeting also highlighted expectations for coaches and athletes, from respectful conduct and punctuality to proper uniform presentation and adherence to anti-doping standards. The message was clear: every detail matters when representing your country on a global stage.

As the athletes prepare to enter the ring, IFMA extends its heartfelt wishes to all teams. May your courage, discipline, and sportsmanship shine brightly. Let the rhythm of the wai kru echo unity, and may every strike carry the spirit of your nation.

Good luck to all athletes—may your journey be victorious, and your legacy inspire generations to come.
