The International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) joins the Olympic Movement in mourning the passing of Sir Craig Reedie, a distinguished statesman of sport whose lifelong dedication to integrity, fairness, and humanity leaves an enduring legacy across the global sporting community.
Sir Craig was among the most respected leaders in modern sport. As Vice-President of the International Olympic Committee and President of the World Anti-Doping Agency from 2014 to 2019, he stood at the forefront of protecting the credibility of sport. In times of significant challenge, he led with composure, wisdom, and steadfast conviction, reinforcing that the true strength of sport lies in its values.

Throughout his tenure at WADA, Sir Craig worked closely with International Federations, including IFMA, offering guidance and support in strengthening anti-doping frameworks and governance. His counsel played an important role in IFMA’s journey to becoming a fully compliant WADA signatory, reflecting a shared commitment to clean sport and the protection of athletes worldwide.
Over more than two decades within the Olympic Movement, Sir Craig served with distinction across numerous commissions and leadership roles, contributing to the continued development and credibility of international sport. He also played a significant role in the successful bid for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
In recognition of his exceptional service, Sir Craig was awarded the Olympic Order, one of the highest honours of the Olympic Movement.
On behalf of IFMA, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the entire Olympic community.
