The IFMA 2025 Asian Muaythai Championships burst into action today at the Thai Nguyen Sports Complex, as teams from across the continent came together for a thrilling start to one of Asia’s most prestigious Muaythai showdowns. With the spotlight shining brightly on Vietnam as host, it was clear from the first bell that Thai Nguyen had become the epicenter of Asian Muaythai.
Home Team Vietnam Delivers a Thunderous Day One
Vietnam made a powerful statement on Day 1, notching the most wins for the home nation and sending a wave of energy through the arena.

In the Senior Female Elite 48kg division, Vietnam’s Mau Cao Thi Tanh electrified the crowd with a nail-biting victory over Mongolia’s Arium-Enkh Chinbat—an intense match that set the tone for the day and gave Vietnam its first taste of championship momentum.

Vietnam continued its winning streak in the Senior Female Elite 54kg division, with Dung Nguyen Thi edging out Korea’s Jiho Yu in a tightly fought contest, demonstrating grit, timing, and technique under pressure.

The excitement didn’t stop there. In the Male U23 60kg division, Vietnam’s representative delivered a thrilling edge-of-your-seat performance to narrowly outlast Mongolia’s Munkh Od Davaajargal, clinching a victory that had the crowd on their feet.
Regional Powerhouses Bring Their A-Game

Among the standout performances of the day was Kazakhstan’s Shamil Kurbanov, who emerged victorious in a razor-thin battle in the Senior Elite 51kg division, outscoring Mongolia’s Tsogtgerel Nyamgerel 29-28 in what can only be described as a tactical chess match with gloves.

Turkmenistan’s Bashin Bashimow delivered a decisive blow in the U23 63.5kg division, overwhelming the home team’s Long Tran Hoang in one of the most commanding wins of the day.
Each bout was a reminder of the spirit, discipline, and regional pride that fuel the Asian Muaythai Championships—and we’re only getting started.

The Thai Nguyen Sports Complex buzzed with energy from start to finish, and the atmosphere promises to build even further as more elite athletes step into the ring.
