The Opening Ceremony of the 2024 African Championships saw many dignities present including
Dr. Ashraf Al-Bijrami the Head of the Sports Sector at the Ministry of Youth and representing the Kingdom of Thailand, the Charge d’Affaires of the Royal Thai Embassy Mr. Thanabordee Joothong.
A special welcome speech was done by the President of United Through Sports (UTS) which highlights the importance of sport during these challenging times to build bridges. The UTS President was especially thankful that countries like Sudan were present, highlighting the Olympic Values which are built on inclusion, diversity and non-discrimination.
The President of the Egyptian Muaythai Federation, Mohammed Ibrahim, stated he was proud that Egypt was given the honor to host the Championships for Africa. He thanked IFMA for the support of the development of muaythai in Africa.
The Opening Ceremony included talented traditional performances and the Athlete, Official and Coach’s Oaths were delivered respectively by: Salma Ajbour from Morocco, Lamya Mohamed from Egypt, Hashim Abosaraweel from Sudan.
The stage is set for the next days of nonstop muaythai action in the African continent.
