December 6th 2016 will be forever remembered as the historical day when the sport and art of muaythai via the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur was recognised by the International Olympic Committee. Muaythai is many hundred years old, but this major milestone will pave the way for the future as muaythai now sits on the same table as all Olympic recognised sports.

This achievement is the culmination of 20 years of strategic planning in youth development, gender equality, universality, structured anti-doping programmes and the stringent adherence to the Olympic Values and certainly our own values that everybody must have the right and opportunity to practice sport without discrimination.

IFMA will host a special Press Conference announcing Muaythai’s IOC Recognition where executives from the International Federation will share the journey to the Five Rings and their vision and plans for the future.

We invite you to tune in and join us on Thursday 15th December at 12.00 GMT. The live feed will be available HERE on the IFMA official website for you to toast with us, as we celebrate in this achievement!
