COLORADA SPRINGS (29/08/2014) The International World Games Association (IWGA) has presented the sport programme for the 10th World Games in Wroclaw (Poland) in 2017. “Floorball (Men), Lacrosse (Women), and Muaythai will make their debut in the official competition programme”. announced Joachim Gossow, CEO of the IWGA. 

A total of 27 sports will be showcased at the multi-sport event from 3 August to 13 August 2017 in Wroclaw with its more than 640,000 inhabitants, capital of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. During the ten competition days, about 170 medal events will be on the programme. The official programme was developed in close cooperation with the IWGA Member Federations and the Wroclaw Local Organising Committee.

In comparison to The World Games 2013 in Cali (Colombia), the IWGA has also made changes with regard to some disciplines. As in Kaohsiung 2009, Rock’n’Roll will be part of the Dance Sport competitions. Salsa, which featured as an invitational event in Cali 2013, will now be integrated in the official programme. The supporters of Air Sports are looking forward to the debut of “Glider Aerobatics” und “Paramotoring” on the main stage of The World Games.

The following sports were already on the programme of the very first World Games in Santa Clara (USA) in 1981: Bowling, Finswimming, Gymnastics, Karate, Powerlifting, Racquetball, Roller Sports, Tug of War und Water Skiing. So the 10th edition of the multi-sport event will mark a special anniversary for these sports as well.

The IWGA expects that nearly 3,500 participants from about 100 countries will fight for the medals at The World Games 2017.
