The Canadian Muaythai Federation holds a unique position under the honorary presidency of His Excellency Kallayana Vipattipumiprates, Ambassador of Thailand to Canada. Under the dedicated leadership of President Alin Halmagean, Canada has made tremendous progress in gaining recognition for Muaythai across the nation.

In 2024, Canada proudly hosted the Pan American Championships and is now preparing a strong youth team for the upcoming Youth World Championships in Abu Dhabi, as well as the next Pan American Championships in Mexico City. Canada is also home to one of IFMA’s outstanding ITOs, Laura Vuculescu, and boasts IFMA’s Sports Director, Janice Lyn, further underlining its global influence in the sport.

One of Canada’s greatest strengths lies in its unity — with 95% of gyms nationwide working under the official structure of the Canadian Federation, strictly aligned with the World Muaythai Council (WMC) and the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA), the IOC-recognised federation.

President Alin emphasizes that this structure ensures proper athlete development from grassroots to elite level while protecting the deep cultural heritage of Muaythai. He also credits one of the fathers of Canadian Muaythai, Ajarn Suchart, whose lifelong dedication has kept the important link to the motherland of Muaythai and to WMC and IFMA alive.
