A special meeting took place between the United States Muaythai Federation, the Birmingham Organising Committee of TWG2022 and IFMA. The USMF Executive Board and all leading Muaythai Gyms, the Athletes’ Commission, led by USMF President, Michael Corley, IFMA represented by Director Charissa Tynan and General Secretary Stephan Fox and BOC represented by Steve Mistrot

IFMA Director Charissa Tynan, welcomed everyone to this important meeting to ensure that all parties work together for one common goal, to make World Games 2022 a big success and certainly ensure that muaythai, once again, will provide the best possible opportunities for the participating athletes.

Ms. Tynan continued with a detailed report on IFMA’s preparations, the weight divisions and the final qualification processes. General Secretary Stephan Fox highlighted the importance of the World Games within the Olympic Agenda 2020 and as a multisport event. He further stated the importance that all USA Muaythai should be excited and participate as the IFMA is planning many activities during the World Games.

Steve Mistrot, representing Birmingham and the LOC praised IFMA for the initiative for the meeting and reflected on the good relationship between the LOC and IFMA. He made a presentation on all the various options for the visitors.

President of USMF, Michael Corley, stated that USMF is very excited about Birmingham 2022 and announced the kick-off of the Team USA selection process. He further stated that USMF will work closely with the BOC and IFMA to bring as many sporting fans as possible to Birmingham and also will cooperate with IFMA to ensure other activities for the muaythai community.

IFMA Director closed the meeting and stated that this is a celebration of all sports and for the muaythai community to also experience and witness the excitement of the many other TWG sports. She concluded by asking that all USMF to do their best to ensure that all gyms and stakeholders will be promote the World Games with creativity and passion being the host national federation for this event.
