UAE is one of the leading muaythai federations in the middle east and is a driving force in Asia. UAE has hosted the 2019 IFMA-FAMA Asian muaythai championships, which was one of the best Asian championships ever organised. So much so that the country has been awarded the 2022 IFMA world championships in the capital Abu Dhabi.

HE Abdullah Al Neyadi, President of the UAE Muaythai Federation, stated that UAE Muaythai is proud of their grassroots development striving for gender equality and inclusion. The UAE is home to many neutralised nationalities; hence at the UAE national championships, participants from 25 countries can be seen.

Tareq Al Mehairi, UAE Muaythai Executive Director and IFMA Executive Board Member, further stated that the cooperation between the national federation, continental federation and IFMA as an IOC recognised world federation is key to development programme especially in respect to fair play, strict anti-doping programmes, both education and testing and that these events are essential to test events for the IFMA world championships.

Muaythai in the UAE is fully recognised by their NOC and highest sports authority. The national championships saw participation from every part of the UAE to contest who will be representing UAE, female and male, at the 2021 IFMA World Championships in Phuket, Thailand.

Fairness plays a vital part, and this is why the technical chief at the UAE national championships was the chair of the European commission Gunter plank, who applauded the decision-making process of this national championships.

Congratulations to the UAE national champions and team UAE for the IFMA World Championships 2021, the official qualifier for the world games.
