With just six weeks remaining until the Opening Ceremony of the IFMA Senior World Championships, excitement is reaching new heights in Türkiye as the national team selection reaches its final stage.
Over 3,000 athletes took part in the qualification process, culminating in the upcoming national finals in Antalya. This prestigious event will serve not only as the decisive moment for national team selection, but also as the final test event in preparation for the IFMA World Championships.
European Muaythai Federation President Hasan Yildiz expressed his pride, stating, “Antalya is not only one of the most beautiful coastal cities in the world, but it has also become recognised as one of Europe’s key muaythai hubs.”
TMF Honourary President Halil Durna added, “Türkiye takes immense pride in our muaythai athletes. Our federation, fully recognised by the National Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sport, stands as one of the most successful in the world. The record number of participants highlights the tremendous growth and development of muaythai in our country.”
Dr Erdogan Aydin, IFMA Executive Committee Member and Chair of the Medical Commission, further emphasised the importance of athlete safety, noting that “Antalya will now welcome the best of the best from across Türkiye, each vying for a coveted place on the national team to represent our country against athletes from over 100 nations.”

IFMA extends its congratulations to the Turkish Muaythai Federation, and to all athletes competing for the honour of wearing the national jersey at the Opening Ceremony on 24 May.
This final event will not only determine the athletes who will compete in the combat divisions, but also those who will represent Türkiye in the Wai Kru and Mai Muay competitions — showcasing the full cultural spectrum of the sport.
