Behiye Tacyizdiz winning a gold medal at the World Championships 2017 Minsk against Anna Strandberg (SWE)

It was the best of the best tournament in Turkey last weekend with the winner of the Turkish Championships and winners of the Antalya EMF Cup coming to the last round of the qualification for the World and European Championships 2018.

So much was at stake and all competitors prepared to the utmost of their skills to represent the Turkish flag in Mexico at the biggest Muaythai tournament in the world – IFMA World Championships.
It was with pride that the Vice-President of the Turkish Muaythai Federation Mr. Hasan Yildiz officially announced the list of 9 women and 13 men making the team for Mexico.

The leader of female Muaythai in Turkey Behiye Tacyizdiz in 67 kg who is the current world champion will defend her title in Mexico after an impressive performance in Minsk where she won all the world strongest representatives in Muaythai from Sweden and Belarus. Behiye truly lit her star in Minsk and will definitely want to keep the result in Cancun.

The lightest male athlete of the team Zubeir Barin 48 kg is going to Mexico as a current European Champion and silver medalist of the World Championships 2017 in Minsk. Zubeir will definitely expect a rematch against Chobthumkit Thiwakorn from Thailand to equalize the score and become a world champion.

Serdar Eroglu 91 kg is going to Mexico as an absolute favourite and holder of the World and European gold medal. The Swede Elkassem Wasim has been his rival in finals in Minsk and Paris and it was Serdar who was the winner of both encounters. This year there will be many strong challengers for Sergar with Russia having qualifiers in parallel with Turkey.

Turkey is sending a numerous team regardless the distance of the host to show it continues to be the world’s power in Muaythai, and Mexican crowd will have many exciting bouts to see from the famous athletes from Turkey.
