39 countries were present in the team manager meeting of the first ever Muaythai University World Cup, under the patronage of FISU, in Bangkok, Thailand. IFMA President, Dr Sakchye Tapsuwan, gave a warm welcoming speech to all the vising countries, stating that another historical moment was made with Muaythai being honoured by FISU patronage.
IFMA General Secretary, Stephan Fox, thanked all the National Federations for their cooperation, especially with their close working relationship with their respective National University Sports Boards which has been exceptional. IFMA Sport Director, Mrs. Charissa Tynan, thanked all the Federations for the fantastic work in the preparations for the games and for delivering all the necessary paperwork which included blood tests, proper eligibility forms, and university accreditation. Mrs. Tynan also stated that all the paperwork was completed and handed in fully, meaning that all the participants are fully eligible to compete.
Representative from the Department of Physical Education, Dr Sawang Vithayapitaks, welcomed everyone and thanked IFMA for the close cooperation and congratulated all the organising committee on the exciting event ahead. Technical delegate Dr Paiboon Srichaisawat supervised the draw, under the supervision of IFMA and the Thailand University Sport Board. The ring will be free for the first of many exciting bouts starting on the 18th of March.
