The Countdown Continues
It is now two month to the opening of the 2013 World Combat Games, under patronage of the IOC.
For over 16th months, qualification events have been held in over 100 countries, to qualify the 88 athletes who will compete in the sport and art of Muaythai in the Games.
In total, there will be 15 Olympic and non-Olympic martial arts and combat sports participating, 5 of them from the Olympic Games Sports Programme.
Muaythai will compete in 11 weight divisions: 8 male (54, 57, 63, 67, 71, 75, 81, 91 kg) and 3 female (51, 54, 60 kg). There will be 8 athletes in each division and the fights will take place in a round robin system.
Twice a week, for the next two months, we will talk about the weight divisions, athletes qualified, and other activities which will precede these Games to keep you updated on this elite combat sport event.
