The Russian Muaythai Federation, in full support of RUMA and the city of St. Petersburg, is in preparation for the upcoming 2012 IFMA World Championship. Over 2,000 athletes, coaches and officials from 100 countries are expected to ravel to St. Petersburg to be part of this important event in one of the world’s most historic cities. This is not simply a World Championship: it is also the official test event for the 2013 World Combat Games (WCG), organized by Sport Accord, under patronage of the IOC.

Representatives from all of the other 14 Olympic and non-Olympic world-recognised combat sports are expected to come to St. Petersburg. They will take part in the opening ceremony and also visit the facilities first hand, in preparation for the upcoming 2013 WCG. Many VIPs have already confirmed their participation.

Additionally, the SportAccord media workshop will be held during the competition. The IFMA Executive Board Meeting, the AGM, the European meeting, the Asian meeting, and numerous other important meetings will also be held during the ten days of the championship.
The final inspections of the preparations will take place from the 3rd -8th July and will be headed by the General Secretary of the European Muaythai Federation and IFMA Executive Board Member, Rafal Szlachta and the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Putilin.
