Viktoria Nansen, president of NZ federation said grass root development is one of the most important works the New Zealand Muaythai Federation is doing as we need to build on the children in order to develop the sport and keep it safe.Muaythai in New Zealand is very developed and especially as the Oceania Olympic Committee in the future will enter athletes into Asian competition, Asian Beach Games, Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games it is now very important for New Zealand to build future champions.
But muaythai is so much more than this; the cultural exchange, the education programme and certainly the sporting exchange is exceptional in IFMA’s sporting programmes. New Zealand is bringing forty youth athletes for the IFMA World Championships which truly shows that the hard work the New Zealand Federation has been doing for so many years is paying off and that the sport and the art of muaythai in New Zealand is safe.
