The opening ceremony of the first ever Muaythai University World Cup, under patronage of FISU, will stay in the memories of everyone involved forever, especially the athletes. The ceremony included so many breath-taking moments, the performances included a mix of traditional and cultural exchange, and an awe-inspiring show by Thailand’s famous Muaythai Live performers.
39 countries were present in the team manager meeting of the first ever Muaythai University World Cup, under the patronage of FISU, in Bangkok, Thailand. IFMA President, Dr Sakchye Tapsuwan, gave a warm welcoming speech to all the vising countries, stating that another historical moment was made with Muaythai being honoured by FISU patronage.
History will be made in Bangkok with the first FISU-patronized Muaythai University World Cup. Athletes from 43 countries will participate in this event, with 43 being the exact number of countries that participated in the first ever Summer Universiade, which took place in Turin, Italy in 1959.
Yasemin Colak, from Germany was the first female athlete to register for the IFMA Muaythai University World Cup, under patronage of FISU. Miss Colak is in her last year of university, majoring in architecture, and is a silver medal winner at the 2012 IFMA World Championship in St Petersburg.
