IFMA was one of the 109 world recognised full member International Sport Federations and Associate members which convened in Lausanne for the Extraordinary General Assembly for SportAccord. The meeting was chaired by the President of the AOIWF (Winter Olympics) and Chariman of SportAccord Mr Gian-Franco Kasper and attended by special guest President of ASOIF (Summer Olympics) and SportAccord Convention Mr Francesco Ricci-Bitti.
The main discussion point on the agenda was the merger between SportAccord and SportAccord Convention. After some discussion the direction was clear, that a merger of the 2 organisations would be voted on at the upcoming SportAccord Convention in April 2016.
Muaythai is one of the 92 recognised full members of SportAccord. Following the controversy in Sochi earlier this year after which many international federations suspended membership, it was good to see a full house again. Muaythai was represented at the meeting by its Sport Director and Executive Board Member, Chairssa Tynan and Chairperson of the IFMA Integrity Unit Panida Ottesen.
IFMA General Secretary Stephan Fox took his place on the main table in his position as President of AIMS and SportAccord Council Member.
