One of Europe’s most historical cities, Split Croatia is in preparations to host the European Championships of one of the most ancient combat sports of all time. Athletes from around 40 European countries will descend on Split from 23-29 October to participate in this historical event.

 

The President of the European Muaythai Federation (EMF) Mr Gennady Trukhanov stated “This event is more than just a sport event, as many meetings will take place to shape the future of muaythai in Europe under IFMA. The European Congress will also be held during the event, and one of the decisions made will be the final selection of the host city for the 2017 European Muaythai Championships.

 

IFMA Sport Director Charissa Tynan said “Apart from the EMF congress many other meetings will take place, especially those aimed at continuing the cooperation with UNWomen and UNESCO. Also, an exciting cultural programme has been organised for the athletes!”.

 

The event will be under the patronage of the Croatian government and the nation’s President HE Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović has delivered her welcome note for the opening.
