
The 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) officially opened in Thailand under the gracious presence of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand, as the Kingdom proudly welcomed Southeast Asia to one of the region’s most significant sporting celebrations.
From Bangkok — the birthplace of the SEA Games in 1959 — together with venues in Chonburi, Thailand once again unites the region in a festival of sport, culture, and enduring friendship. Taking place from 9 to 20 December 2025, the Games mark a symbolic return to the origins of the Southeast Asian sporting movement.

Scale of the Games
The 2025 SEA Games bring together 13,657 athletes across 50 medal sports, blending Olympic disciplines with traditional and regionally significant sports that showcase Southeast Asia’s rich cultural and sporting heritage.
Competition Schedule & Venues
Competition began on 3 December with men’s football and polo, ahead of the spectacular Opening Ceremony on 9 December at the iconic Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok.
Several sports — including badminton, baseball, flying disc, handball, and hockey 5s — also commenced prior to the Opening Ceremony.
The Closing Ceremony will take place at the same 51,000-capacity stadium on 20 December, bringing the Games to a memorable conclusion.
