The Iranian Muaythai Federation, fully recognized by the National Olympic Committee under the presidency of Javad Nasiri and the Teheran regional organization led by Mr. Mohammad Adaliyousefi and Mr. Mahdi Gholizadh, organized the 2025 Teheran Muaythai Championship and Open Cup.
Over 700 athletes participated, showcasing the sport’s popularity in the region and the dedication of the Iranian Muaythai Federation over the years.
A highlight of the event was the participation of the IFMA Equipe Muaythai des Refugies (EMR) Team, which brought home an impressive 9 medals:
3 Gold:
- Seyed Matin Hosseini 12-13 years
- Mahdi Ebrahimi Adult- 54kg
- Ali Ahmad Kazemi Adult – 63kg
4 Silver:
- Benjamin Asqarpoor 10-11 years
- Vahid Ahmadi – 54kg
- Seyed Abolfaz Hashemi – 63.5kg
- Alireza Barbari – 51kg
2 Bronze
- Abolfazl Faghiri – 48kg
- Rahman Azimi Adult – 54kg
Mr. Mahdi Rezaee, Chair of the IFMA Equipe Muaythai des Refugies (EMR) Team, thanked the organizers for their warm welcome and support, allowing the team to compete.
President Nasiri expressed pride in the team’s participation, emphasizing the Islamic Republic of Iran’s commitment to supporting refugees and the role of sport in driving positive change.
Mr. Rezaee stated, “Muaythai brings us all together. The athletes may not represent their specific country, but they proudly represent themselves and the values Muaythai stands for.”
