Muaythai or Muay how the sport is called in South Asia is included in the 2017 SEA Games held in the beautiful city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 19-31 August.
10 South East Asian countries including Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia have submitted teams. Dato Shanaz Azmi, the president of the South East Asian Muay Federation, also Vice President of FAMA, and IFMA Executive Board member said that he is very proud that the sport is included especially after IOC recognition last year under the world body IFMA.
The next three days will see the pre SEA Game Muay event done by invitation and is an important test event for all athletes, especially for the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia as they also have athletes in the upcoming World Games in three weeks in Poland in which muaythai makes its debut; in the event under IOC patronage.
