The IFMA Virtual World Championships was a huge success with over 30,000 participants through national stages to world stage, making it the biggest and most inclusive muaythai event in muaythai history. Many National Olympic Committees (NOCs) recognised the event and athletes have been honoured by highest government officials and NOCs for their success.

Palestinian athletes which participated in large numbers in the event were honoured with a special ceremony by Afghan NOC member Major General Nidal Abu Dakhan.

It was indeed a proud moment for the youth and the Palestinian muaythai federation. Major General Nidal Abu Dakhan stated: “Staying active and healthy in these challenging times is key for all the youth in the world and the IFMA initiative “#MuaythaiCconnects” and the IFMA Virtual World Championships are very innovative and were a necessary solution.”

Ahmad Abu Dukhan, head coach of the Palestinian national team stated: “the Palestinian youth trained for many months to prepare for this event.  Winning 8 gold and 5 bronze medals showcases the determination of our youth during the pandemic. Palestine is looking forward to the 2021 events and have  already started preparations.”
